In the course of the renovation of a detached single-family house from the 1990s in Schnaittenbach/Upper Palatinate, the floor plan was reorganized: An attached conservatory now extends the ground floor towards the garden, so that the surrounding greenery can be experienced as part of the interior. The kitchen, formerly located in a separate room, was moved to the former dining room, which now merges seamlessly into the newly created bright living room. The new family kitchen, where cooking is done every day, thus occupies a prominent place within the floor plan and becomes the hub and linchpin of the everyday life of a family with three children. As such, it had to be representative and functional at the same time and blend unobtrusively into the existing living image with the given materials. Modern, simple and bright, yet homely, the client wanted the impression of the cooking area.

The experienced planner and s from the Kemptner kitchen workshop in Amberg chose the BONDI programme in the design lines PRIMO and AVANCE with the surface CLASSIC-FS in the colour mohair. "The colour mohair is timelessly elegant and forms an appealing contrast to the oak wood floor already present on the ground floor," explains planner Albert Kemptner. "We had the slat design, which surrounds the cooking island and the tall unit row like a passe-partout and continues into the adjacent living area, made accordingly in our own carpentry workshop in the oak/black style."

At the heart of the house, the cooking area, dining area and living room flow into one another and are characterised by light colours and natural, high-quality materials. To create clear lines, the planners cleverly clad an adjacent sloping staircase and a wall projection with a floor-to-ceiling kitchen element that accommodates the sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, oven and other technology and also plenty of storage space. The elements in the PRIMO and AVANCE design lines with the CLASSIC-FS surface in the colour mohair appear puristic and almost monolithic. Powder-coated handles and grip profiles in the same colour support this effect. 20 mm thick Ceramic Worktops pick up on the light beige-grey tone of the fronts. Light sources integrated into the kitchen elements and a 60 cm wide and equally high recess lined with slats, which serves as a practical and representative storage tray, loosen up the stringent design as a special eye-catcher. A matt black sink mixer tap and the likewise black track with LED spotlights below the ceiling create dark contrasts with the light interior design ensemble.

The ceiling-high sink element is juxtaposed with an approximately 2.50-metre-wide kitchen island, which with plenty of work space on both sides of the centrally arranged hob invites you to prepare and prepare food together. While the kitchen island itself is also kept entirely in the colour mohair, the planners opted for a contrasting splash guard made and black glass that reflects the surroundings. A special highlight of this custom-made detail is the black metal shelf with light bottom, which provides a decorative and functional storage area above the hob. The kitchen island is docked to a floor-to-ceiling cabinet element with an integrated wine cooler in the transition to the living area, which the kitchen planners had edged with and black contrasting oak slats to match the existing floor covering. The natural material creates the warm and lively antithesis to the purist look of the kitchen.

Based on the concept of open and integrative living space design, Küchenwerkstatt Kemptner implemented a sophisticated design solution with the present plan – high-quality, puristic, elegant and with clear lines. It is an outstanding example of the seamless integration of the kitchen into the centre of a family's life. Competent design decisions down to the smallest detail, which planner Albert Kemptner made in close cooperation with the discerning clients, are central to this. The award in the Frame of the Global Kitchen Design Award confirms the continuously unique design work of the LEICHT Exclusiv Studio from Amberg, which skilfully uses the high-quality products from LEICHT with great sensitivity and planning skill to realise individual customer wishes and to respond to the architectural features of their living spaces.
