Cocinas de Nopper in the Mallorcan town of Santa Ponsa was awarded third place. The award-winning project is located in a luxurious private villa in the island's capital, Palma
The LEICHT kitchen studio Cocinas de Nopper in the Mallorcan town of Santa Ponsa was awarded third place. The acclaimed project is located in a luxurious private villa in the island's capital, Palma, offering a picturesque view of the coastline. The design captivates with a timeless, modern look that harmoniously combines representative elegance with kitchen ergonomics, while capturing the Mediterranean lifestyle through warm colors and materials.
The approximately 1,400-square-meter villa sits high on a hillside, nestled in the Mallorcan landscape, offering breathtaking views of Palma and the coastline. Its minimalist design and the use of high-quality materials such as glass, wood, and stone create an elegant connection to the surrounding nature. Floor-to-ceiling glass façades run throughout the building, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors—a play of light that particularly highlights the kitchen as the central area of the villa.
On the ground floor, the kitchen forms the heart of the open-plan layout. Directly connected to the entrance area, it seamlessly integrates with the dining and living spaces. The owners desired a representative kitchen that feels inviting while remaining functional. The kitchen elements are arranged to visually structure the space without compromising its openness, creating a cozy atmosphere that invites family and friends to gather. It was their wish to use this space not only for daily meal preparation but also to host larger cooking evenings with loved ones—a way to find balance amid a demanding professional life.
Two tall cabinet towers dominate the kitchen design, seamlessly combining aesthetics and functionality. They are crafted in the BAHIA surface program with the warm-toned esche madeira finish. The vertical grooved structure creates a dynamic play of lines, emphasizing the height of the impressive space. All appliances are elegantly and discreetly integrated within the cabinets. The back sides of the cabinet towers, facing the entrance door, provide practical storage for coats and shoes as well as a wine cooler with its corresponding accessories. Additionally, the custom furniture cleverly conceals two utility shafts from the upper floor.
Another structuring element is the nearly eight-meter-long, striking kitchen island, which offers ample workspace for shared cooking and enjoyment. The worktop and side panels of the island are made from Taj Mahal sanded natural stone, a light quartzite from Brazil that is particularly hard and resistant to scratches. All transitions between horizontal and vertical surfaces are expertly mitred—including the sink, which is equipped with a sliding cutting board to simplify food preparation. All base cabinets are from the Classic-FS C1 program, featuring a high-quality LEICHT matte lacquer finish with a pleasantly velvety feel. The exclusive Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier shade ombre naturelle claire adds the desired sunny and warm “Mallorca lifestyle” ambiance.
The kitchen design by LEICHT Cocinas de Nopper creates a unique living experience amidst the breathtaking backdrop of Mallorca's natural landscape. By combining premium materials with first-class, bespoke design, it has succeeded in crafting a masterpiece of modern interior architecture. The representative character and timeless aesthetics make this kitchen concept an "island of elegance."
