The winning entry from the kitchen studio La Cucina in Schweinfurt combines the effect of elegant luxury planning with clever storage room solutions – a modern American-style kitchen with lots of concealed details. The eye-catcher in this setting is a free-standing marble kitchen island which simultaneously looks both monolithic and open with its graphic cut-out elements and mitred worktop. It is the centre of the entire scenario, the focal point for its users and creates a seamless transition to the living area. Behind the island, there is a floor-to-ceiling unit run featuring deep black FENIX fronts. Visually, this dark design element is an interesting contrast to the light kitchen block and also provides generous storage space, ideal for ensuring the place always looks tidy.
With this design, ARETE KITCHENS – the kitchen planning studio from Austin, USA – shows a successful example of how warm colours and natural materials can team up with graphic lines to create a special kind of furnishing aesthetic. Above all the unit fronts in the LEICHT TOPOS range as well as the geometrically structured tiles on the back kitchen wall define the look. Shimmering metallic elements are an elegant touch and add that certain something to the living space. A long island in a dominant position is the influential element in the architectural spatial concept because it appears to be floating, thus lending a feeling of lightness. Totally in keeping with LEICHT’s cross-spatial planning approach, the walls of the adjoining hallway are also clad in wood in the same way as the kitchen front, creating a sculptural look – ARETE KITCHENS developed a holistic kitchen plan extending beyond the kitchen space.
The planning scenario of Luxembourg-based kitchen planing studio YTTER DESIGN presents a particularly impressive example of how kitchen and living can be implemented in both a homogeneous and communicative way. Above all, the focus is on the powerful and contrasting colour black. There is probably no other shade that can be as elegant and casual, as striking and subtle at the same time – as the kitchen plan impressively shows with its interplay of open and closed fronts, an island block in front and a clear design approach. At the seamless transition of the functional area of the kitchen, bookshelves and other elements more associated with a living room follow the aesthetic principle. With this award-winning design, YTTER DESIGN has developed a holistic and impressive living experience.
